Overlooking Tianfu New Area, which is under the direct governance of Chengdu, you will discover a green twinkling gem. It is Xinglong Lake located at the Xinglong Town, Tianfu New Area.
说它是天府新区的“宝石”并不为过。看体量——水域面积4500亩，蓄水量超过1000万立方米，它原是利用鹿溪河上筑坝营造而来。看功能——它集观光、休闲、防洪、灌溉、生态于一身，被称为是天府新区内的“生态之肾”，湖区水质据说达到了欧洲标准的“蓝色”生态湖泊级。
It deserves the title "a gem in Tianfu New Area" for reasons below. From its coverage, the waters cover an area of 4,500 mu, containing more than 10 million cubic meters of water. It is reconstructed from a dam on the Luxi River. From its functions, it combines multi-functions of sightseeing, leisure, flood-control, irrigation and ecological benefits, therefore being called "the ecological lung of Tianfu New Area". The water quality of Xinglong Lake purportedly reaches the European "Blue" standard for ecological lakes.

Taking a closer look at the area besides the lake, Chengdu Science City, with a planned area of 73 square kilometers and a starting area of 25 square kilometers, is rapidly rising up. Chengdu Science City is 25 kilometers away from Chengdu downtown area and 30 kilometers away from Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, representing a new impetus for the Dual-Core Prospering Strategy of Chengdu and for Chengdu to build up the national central city.
