On June 29, the Second China–Nepal Youth Forum, hosted by the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Sichuan Province and organized by the Institute of South Asian Studies and the Center for South Asian Studies at Sichuan University, officially opened at the Sichuan International Friendship Cities Hall in Chengdu.
Prior to the opening ceremony, Chinese and Nepalese youth representatives toured the Sichuan International Friendship Cities Hall, where they learned about Sichuan's international sister-city network and its achievements in foreign exchanges and international cooperation. The visit also offered participants a firsthand look at the province's progress in advancing high-level opening up.
The forum was held under the theme "Youth and the Future of Nations: China and Nepal's Young People in Dialogue on Responsibility and Challenges." Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Zhang Maoming addressed the opening ceremony via video message. In his remarks, Ambassador Zhang noted that President Xi Jinping has emphasized that "the future belongs to the youth, and hopes are placed on the youth." He said that young people in both China and Nepal are driving forces behind their respective countries' development, while also serving as the backbone for carrying forward the longstanding friendship between the two nations and deepening bilateral cooperation. He stressed that China–Nepal relations offer broad prospects and abundant opportunities for young people, expressing hope that the youth of both countries will strengthen exchanges on governance experience, actively participate in mutually beneficial cooperation, tell the story of China–Nepal friendship in the new era, shoulder the responsibilities of their generation, and contribute to building a more just and equitable global governance system as well as a community with a shared future for mankind.
From June 29 to 30, youth representatives from China and Nepal participated in a series of keynote speeches and panel discussions covering a wide range of topics. Discussions ranged from youth participation in political life and national governance, to opportunities for young people in economic development and social progress, and the role of youth in educational innovation and media development. Drawing on their respective national contexts and personal experiences, participants shared practical insights from their own fields and engaged in in-depth discussions on how young people can better contribute to national development and strengthen China–Nepal cooperation.

During the keynote forum, Tang Chen and Tan Yixin from the Inspiration of the Sichuan International Communication Center were invited to deliver keynote presentations. From the perspective of international communication, they shared the practical experience of Inspiration in engaging Generation Z audiences both in China and overseas through Chinese culture and compelling stories from Sichuan. They also discussed how youth perspectives and innovative storytelling can help build bridges for cross-cultural communication.

"China and Nepal are friendly neighbors connected across the Himalayas, and the young people of our two countries share so much in common... The name Inspiration embodies our greatest hope for youth exchanges, that only through the convergence and exchange of ideas and inspiration can Generation Z grow together and learn from one another."
Looking ahead, Inspiration will continue leveraging international communication platforms to invite more young creators and opinion leaders from both China and Nepal to co-create content, allowing cultures to interact through dialogue and blend through exchange, while empowering young people to write a new chapter in China–Nepal friendship.

The forum provided a high-level platform for meaningful dialogue and the exchange of ideas between the youth of China and Nepal. Over the course of the two-day event, participants engaged in candid discussions and mutual learning across areas including national governance, economic development, and educational innovation. These exchanges not only deepened mutual understanding and friendship, but also laid a solid foundation for expanding practical cooperation between the two countries in a wider range of fields in the future.
