Impatiens flowers have won love for their tenacious vitality and unique charm. Interestingly, the Latin genus name "impatiens" originally means "anxiety" or "impatience". In this large family, many Impatiens species have an "explosive" temper.

The fruit of the genus Impatiens is a colloidal capsule. When the fruit ripens, the seeds suddenly snap out of the capsule. If passing animals or people accidentally bump into them, their seeds will be sprayed several meters away, so they are called impatient flowers.

There are about 300 known species of Impatiens in China, most of which are endemic to a certain region. Among them, the Impatiens undulata, with a wavy or crenulated edge, only grows in the forest margins or grasslands at an altitude of 1800-2000 meters in Mount Emei, Sichuan Province.
